Lake Minnewaska is the 13th largest lake in Minnesota covering 7,110 acres. It is located in Central Minnesota. For the size of the lake it is relatively shallow with a max depth of only 32 feet. It is a popular lake for anglers and recreational water activities. It also has a few public swimming beaches, one in Glenwood and the other in Starbuck. Also known for its fishing, Lake Minnewaska offers a wide range of fishing opportunities. The lake is managed for walleye and although the population has decreased in the last few years, the walleye population has remained higher than expected. Walleye are not the only thing anglers target at Lake Minewaska. Other popular fish include largemouth and smallmouth bass, bluegill, black crappie, northern pike, and yellow perch. Over the years largemouth and smallmouth bass populations have expanded in recent years. It has actually become a popular choice for organized bass tournaments. If panfish is more your style there are an abundance of good sized bluegill and crappie found in the lake. When choosing Lake Minewaska be aware that the lake does have evidence of water milfoil and curly-leaf pondweed so all boaters are responsible for inspecting their boats and removing all aquatic vegetation before leaving the water access.

If on the wastern shores of the lake you will encounter the small community of Starbuck, with around 1,200 residents.
